The very first conference on diversity in the sports media – The D Word – will take place on the 27th October from 2pm at the London College of Communication.
The conference is organised with BCOMS (Black Collective Of Media in Sport), as part of the FARE network ‘Action Weeks’. The conference will bring together industry leaders, journalists, equality experts, academics, community leaders, sports professionals and students to discuss ways in which we can work together to make the sports media more diverse.
We would love you to attend this free event where speakers include: Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, Simon Green, Head of BT Sport, Andy Cairns, Sky Sports News Executive Editor, Philip Bernie, BBC Head of TV Sport, Ian Prior, The Guardian Head of Sport, Darren Lewis, Mirror Sport, Jeanette Kwakye, former GB Athlete now sports journalist, and Professor Diane Kemp, Birmingham City University and Consultant to the Council of Europe Mediane.
We are still in the process of confirming more speakers.
A guide to promoting and delivering greater diversity across the sports media will be produced following the conference based on contributions on the day.
