Key members of the student–staff team behind ‘Practices of Enquiry’, UAL’s first exhibition of teaching will lead a guided tour. The tour will provide context to the student–staff collaborative processes behind the project; explain the thinking behind each of the nine exhibits; and invite discussion about how we share teaching practice.
Who should attend?
This event is open to all: students / staff / internal / external.
It will be of particular interest to anyone curious about arts pedagogies – tutors, students, UAL staff, educational developers etc. It may also be useful to anyone interested in visual ways of articulating teaching and learning.
What is Practices of Enquiry?
Practices of Enquiry is a two-year institutional enhancement project, exploring how we create the conditions for enquiry to flourish within our ‘creative, curious, critical curricula’ (Learning Teaching and Enhancement Strategy 2015-2022).
Since summer 2016 a team of students and graduates has been collaborating with teaching staff on a research project, creating case studies of excellent enquiry-based teaching practice across UAL. These case studies have been translated into a series of artefacts that attempt to visualize the teaching practice, whilst provoking reflection on the process of teaching in the arts. These artefacts have been curated into UAL’s first exhibition of teaching.
This event will take place within the exhibition space, and is co-ordinated by the Teaching and Learning Exchange.
