Trained at the London College of Fashion and MA at Central Saint Martin’s, Barjis Chohan gained experience working for Vivienne Westwood and in a French couture house in Monte Carlo before setting up her own label. In 2011 she completed Business training at Cass business school.
Her understated luxury brand, Barjis, offers ready to wear chic clothing with interesting prints for the modern professional woman. The DNA of the brand is the fusion of eastern values with western cuts, prints and more prints with an emphasis on hand painted prints; an interesting twist to the tunic and the understated chic look that has become instantly recognisable with the Barjis brand. Barjis is the pioneer in taking modest fashion to a new level; successfully positioning itself as a pioneer in luxury modest fashion into the mainstream fashion industry.
Barjis Chohan is a British Asian, brought up in Tooting, South London with Pakistani and Rajasthani heritage. Her rich heritage fused with British and Asian values creates an interesting contradicting tension in her work.
She has won several awards including Business woman of the year in London, Designer in International trade awarded by The Daily Mail 1ST runner up in UKTI Female owned Business of the Year. She is regularly invited on BBC and has been featured in four documentaries for Belgian TV, BBC Radio 1, BBC world news, Islam channel and Malaysian TV.
